The playbook

How lawn care businesses use rank tracking

  1. 1

Find the gaps in your service area

Run a 7 × 7 grid on your main service. The red and grey spots are neighborhoods you serve but customers can't find you in.

  2. 2

Work the weakest high-value areas first

Prioritise neighborhoods with the best jobs. Local pages, reviews from customers in that area and consistent business listings all help there.

  3. 3

    Track each service separately

Plumbing, drain cleaning and water heaters each have their own competitors. Scan each one so you know which service to push.

  4. 4

Re-scan on a schedule and prove it

Scan monthly and compare. Share the maps with your team or client so the work shows up as a visible change.

Where it comes from

Built by a local SEO agency, for the people who report on rankings every month.

LocalMapRanks was built by the team at Youtech Agency to track and explain local rankings for their own clients, then checked against what Google really shows at each location. It's the tool we wanted, so it measures things the way we'd defend them to a client.

Checked against the real pack

Positions 1 to 3 come from Google's actual local pack at each spot.

Lawn care rank tracking: common questions

Why does route density matter for lawn care?

Visibility in tight clusters of neighborhoods is worth more than a thin spread, since it keeps routes efficient. A grid shows where your clusters are.

Can I track several keywords?

Yes. Lawn mowing, fertilization and weed control are separate searches.

What exactly is a grid scan?

We pick a grid of points around your business (3×3, 5×5 or 7×7) out to a radius you choose. At each point we ask Google what someone standing there would see when they search your keyword, and record where you rank. The result is a map of your visibility, block by block.

What's a token?

One token runs one spot of a scan. A 5×5 scan is 25 tokens and a 7×7 is 49 for each keyword. Spots that can't be checked are refunded automatically. Tokens never expire.
